Ariel Gail

Professor Gail S. Goodman holds a Distinguished Chair in Psychology in the University of California Davis and is the Director of its Center for Public Policy Research. She is widely acclaimed as a pioneer in the field of eyewitness testimony and child witnesses within legal contexts. Professor Goodman is a prolific author and has been awarded several awards and grants. She has worked with many government agencies and institutions all over the world to conduct studies and policy issues pertaining to children who are victims of the legal system. She acts as a consultant for the Special Assault Forensic Evaluation Center (formerly Multidisciplinary Interview Center) of the Sacramento County Child Protective Services. She is a member of a variety of professional organizations that include Association for Psychological Science and American Psychological Association. She is the founder of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, the Psychonomics Society Society for Research in Child Development, and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She is the former president of American Psychological Association Divisions for Child and Family Policy and Practice Division American Psychology Law Society and Division Developmental Psychology.
